My mates at @thomsonwhisky kindly sent me a bottle of their new White Rye. I sipped this straight, which is what I do with every new liquor I try before making a custom cocktail, and it’s like nothing I’ve ever tasted before. I got hints burnt sugar and tobacco but with the clean aftertaste you’d expect from a white spirit. Here’s what I came up with.

Here’s how to make a Rye & Lime at home.

Ingredients

  • 60 ml @thomsonwhisky white rye
  • 30 ml fresh lime juice
  • 15 ml sugar syrup (2:1)
  • 3 – 4 grinds of black pepper

Method

Shake all ingredients together over ice. Strain into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with a white of lime and a sprinkle of pepper.
