The perfect combination of strong coffee and strong liquor. I like to think of the Espresso Martini as a classy alternative to a Red Bull & Vodka.

This is one of my favourite drinks to make to kick off a night out. I’m not too sure about the rest of the world, but in New Zealand, at the moment the Espresso Martini seems to be everyone’s favourite cocktail. Use this recipe and impress your friends by whipping up a batch of your own at home.

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Vodka
  • 22.5 ml Coffee Liqueur
  • 22.5 ml Espresso
  • 10 ml Simple Syrup (2:1)
  • 3 coffee beans to garnish

Method

Shake all ingredients over ice and strain into a martini or coupe glass. Garnish with three coffee beans.

If you can’t make your own espresso at home, try subbing in cold brew coffee concentrate. You can buy this off the shelf or make it at home easily with a coffee plunger/french press.
