Crisp, delicious and super simple – the classic G&T never disappoints.
Legend has it that this drink was first created by British soldiers stationed in India in the early 19th century. The troops were ordered to drink tonic water because the quinine in it kept disease-carrying mosquitos at bay. In an effort to make to take the edge off the tonic’s bitterness, they started adding in gin from their rations as well as a little citrus.
Hundreds of years later and the Gin & Tonic is still a great cocktail. Here’s how to make one at home.
Ingredients
- 45 ml Gin
- Tonic to top
- Lemon or lime slices to garnish
Method
Fill a highball or rocks glass with ice, depending on your preference, and add in the gin. Top with tonic and garnish with a couple of lemon or lime slices.
