Spirit forward, simple and delicious. The Old Fashioned, and it’s many variations, are a solid option for your next order at the bar or your next cocktail creation at home.
Dating back to as early as 1880 with a name like the ‘Old Fashioned’, this is a timeless cocktail that is super simple, combining some of the most essential and definitive ingredients in cocktail making – liquor, water, sugar and bitters. Below is my recipe for a classic Old Fashioned cocktail.
Ingredients
- 60 ml Bourbon
- 10 ml Simple Syrup (2:1)
- 3 dash Angostura Bitters
- Orange peel to garnish
Method
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass and stir together over ice for around 15 – 20 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass with one large ice cube and garnish with an orange twist.
