It’s #secretsanté time again!! Big thanks to my man @servedbysoberon for organising it again this year. I was lucky enough to get to make a cocktail for the amazing @garnish_girl! I had a wee scroll through her account. Saw that she is pretty into her dragon fruit and likes to make a tiki cocktail every so often I thought this banger of a cocktail would be appropriate! Once you have all the ingredients it’s actually super simple to make too!

Please be careful if you are going to light the absinthe on fire! Be responsible and stay safe! The cocktail is still great even if you can’t light the fire.

Here’s how to make a Flaming Dragon Fruit at home.


  • 60 ml white rum
  • 30 ml lime juice
  • 10 ml agave syrup
  • Flesh from one dragon fruit
  • Ginger beer to top
  • Lime half filled with flaming absinthe to garnish


Muddle the dragon fruit in the base of your shaker. Add the rum, lime juice and agave syrup and fill the shaker with crushed ice. Shake the shaker gently and briefly until all ingredients are just combined. Pour it into a hurricane glass and top with a bit of ginger beer. Garnish with a lime half filled with absinthe. Carefully light it and enjoy the show! Make sure to blow the flame out before drinking. Dunk the lime half into the drink for extra flavour.
